Ana Popovic - PhD 2018-2021
Despite the global travel restrictions in 2020, Ana was able to complete her PhD!
Ana Popovic did her PhD as a cotutelle (joint PhD) between the University of Cape Town and the University of Côte d'Azur.
Title of here thesis: An Investigation into the Phenotypic Switching of Skin Dermal Fibroblasts into Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts in the Melanoma Tumor Microenvironment
Ana was a beneficiary of the French Embassy Scholarship during each of her stays in France and this is her message:
I would like to give a big thank-you to the French Embassy in South Africa for supporting me during the mobility stages of my PhD studies in France. In particular, I was awarded a scholarship during the pandemic from 1st June 2020 - 31st March 2021 which allowed me to extend my PhD studies by 6 months, in order to finish my joint-degree in France. I am pleased to inform you that I successfully defended my PhD in the beginning of April, which would have not been possible without the generous scholarship from the French Embassy in South Africa.
