Brandon O'Neill, Master
From Johannesburg, South Africa
Hello, my name is Brandon O’Neill. I am from Johannesburg South Africa. I am currently studying for a two-year Masters in Science and Engineering in Agricultural Sciences at JUNIA-ISA in Lille. France is a world leader in higher education and many international students from all around the world choose France. In addition to the high standards of education the French degree is internationally recognized which opens up many doors for my future career trajectory.
So why did I choose France? After an extensive search I found the best course for me was located in France. The course was offered in English which was a relief as I was a native English speaker with no prior French knowledge. This is not a problem as the institution offers French classes and plenty of opportunities to interact with French people. My course is also extensive in its learning programs as it encompasses both theory and practical classes, lab work as well as field work. The perfect mix for a student who excels more practically than theoretically like me. The course will also help me align with my future career trajectory in Hydroponics.
And the administration? It might sound daunting to apply overseas, but it was an easy process. First of all, Campus France aided me in every step of the way. They along with the French government really want you to come to France to study and immerse yourself in the French culture. Campus France has all the information you need and more including scholarship and bursary details. In addition to Campus France my university held many information settings along the application process. I had interviews with my future professors who wanted to know my passions and future career goals to see how the course would benefit me. You are not just a number year and they provide every opportunity to aid you in your studies.
My time is France has been great so far. Of course, the situation has not permitted me to take my classes in person or explore the country. However, I have had a chance to make friends here and explore the wonderful city of Lille. France is so much more than Paris and I urge you to try and apply at one of the universities in a different city. It will be a more unique experience and you will enjoy it fully. And if you want to travel have no fear as everywhere can be reached via a short train or plane ride.
So what are you waiting for, Choose France!
