UPDATE - OCTOBER 30, 2020

Since October 30, travel limitation actions are in place in metropolitan France and Martinique, at least until December 1st, 2020.

Travels

Non-essential travels are prohibited. The list of authorised travels is available on the website of the government. For example, it is possible to travel between your place of residence and your place of work or higher education institution for students.

In case of travel, it is mandatory to have an exempted movement certificate, available on the website of the Ministry of the Interior.  

Wearing a mask is mandatory in all public space.

Any violation to these rules will be sanctioned.

Higher education institutions

• All French higher education institutions are closed from March 16 2020 onwards, following the decision of the French president until further order;
• During this period, learning continues in formats adapted to this exceptional situation;
• It is highly recommended to stay in touch with your training institution and stay updated about information published by emails, on the institutions’ websites and official social media;
• Tests and exams with national scope in higher education are postponed until further notice, and won’t be held until late May.
• Written entrance exams that are meant to be taken after passing a baccalauréat, which allow access to selective undergraduate programmes will be replaced by a review of the applicants’ academic file as part of the Parcoursup process.
• Written exams in relation with other national entrance exams are postponed, and will be reorganised (access exam for Grandes Ecoles, for the second year of health studies at a university, etc.).

Student life

• Student residence managed by CROUS organisations stay open. From April 1st onward, all students who left their room - even temporarily - will not pay any rent until their return. To benefit from this rent interruption, notify your CROUS of your leave as soon as possible by email, so it can be checked and counted;
   
• Please note that food service in Resto’U is reopening gradually;
   
• Food aid and support to buy first necessity goods are implemented in CROUSes for locked-down residents;
   
• Financial support is available in the CROUS social services for all students who need it;
   
• Prime Minister Philippe announced on May 4th a new one-off aid of €200 available for payment for students in a precarious situation.

Visa and residence permit in France

• The validity period of residence permit expiring between March 16 and June 2020 is extended by 6 months. This extension is automatic;
   
• Short-stay visas about to expire for people who cannot go back to their country of origin may be extended in some cases. Ask your local prefecture;
   
• Issuance of visas is suspended until further notice. This decision includes all visa applications.

Campus France Agency offices are closed until further notice. Business activity plan is activated. Our teams continue working remotely and are still available to answer all your questions.

All scholarship holders managed by Campus France should have personally received an information notice regarding this exceptional situation. Because remote work is generalised, please use email communication whenever you can to communicate with the services in charge of your scholarship.

Health recommendations: protect yourself and others

To tackle the coronavirus, simple gestures and behaviour will help you protect your health and others’:

• Wash your hand frequently
• Cough or sneeze in your elbow or in a disposable tissue
• Use disposable tissues and bin them
• No handshakes, no hugs
• Wear a mask when the one-meter distance cannot be respected

In case of symptoms (coughing, fever) possibly related to the Covid-19: stay home, avoid all contacts, call a physician before attending or call the care duty number or your region.
