Martine Steyn - 2005/2007
My experience in France and the scholarship programme really shaped my life, since I am still working as a translator and copywriter for clients based in France (successfully and happily so), but I understand if my location is a problem.
I left for France in 2005 with a two-year scholarship to complete a Master's degree in translation. Two years turned into nine, and even now, back in Cape Town, French remains an integral part of my life and career. I work as a freelance translator and copywriter for French and South African clients (luxury brands, corporate communications, financial reports, and even a few screenplays). Today I have dual South African and French citizenship and feel privileged to live between my two favourite countries and cultures. It all began with my studies in France, and I am forever grateful for that incredible opportunity.
